“I take it as an elemental truth of life that words matter.”

Words make worlds.

Words shape how we understand ourselves, how we understand the world, how we treat others. Words are drugs; they influence our thinking, how we feel, how we respond to the world around us.

I write to learn about myself, to understand the world around me and my place in it, as an expression of my curiousity, and to connect with others.  Perhaps some of the words you read here will move you in some way.  Stay curious.

How I’m learning to love to fly.

How I’m learning to love to fly.

Yep, that's me. 1974. Sittin' in the cockpit of a Pan American Airways 747, on my way to Bermuda with my Mom. Lucky me. At this point in my life I loved to fly. I was talking with one of my favorite people recently, telling her about my upcoming vacation and my...

Enough, already?

"I've got too much to do." How often do you think this? Often enough that it feels like it defines your present life? To live with this thought is to be constantly telling ourself that we may never be finished. We may deny ourselves true rest, thanks to our obsession...
